Hollands Duin Trail
The Hollands Duin Trail is a trail running event that starts from Vrijstaat Nederzandt in the dune area of Noordwijk. In its 15th edition the routes run through the dunes toward adjacent forests and along the coast. All courses are waymarked with arrows and tape.
Terrain varies along each route and includes singletracks, sandy passages, dune ridges with views over the North Sea, stretches over the beach and sections through forest. Runners encounter frequent height differences and winding dune paths; distances above 10 km include more forested sections.
Available distances
- 6 km with about 55 m elevation gain and refreshment at the finish
- 10 km with about 80 m elevation gain; refreshment at 4 km and at the finish
- 21 km with about 150 m elevation gain; refreshments at 5, 11 and 15 km and at the finish
- 30 km with about 220 m elevation gain; refreshments at 5, 20 and 24 km and at the finish
Practical details: participants receive an informational email about one week before the event and the GPX file is shared the Thursday before at 19:00. Start times are issued as one hour start blocks; runners may start anytime within their block and a crew member is present at the start. A pop up Trailrunning Shop is present during the event. Medals are offered as an optional extra. Organizer Trail Events lists a maximum capacity of 1460. Partners include Vrijstaat Nederzandt, Staatsbosbeheer and Gemeente Noordwijk.
