Hel n Back

Hel n Back is a trail race on 12 Sep 2026 that starts and finishes at Hermitage Academy in Helensburgh. The route includes short sections on tarred pavement and road at the start and finish and a paved section of less than 1 km about halfway. The remainder is mostly land rover track and well made trails.

The course features multiple climbs arranged in four parts, with the final climb through trees described as the steepest and shortest. At around 8 km the route becomes downhill toward the finish, and the final 4 km descend on a steady gradient. Marshals are positioned along the route and volunteers greet participants at the finish; fun prizes are offered.

The school provides a large free car park, though it can fill quickly when other activities are taking place, and there is street parking nearby. Craigendoran train station is about a five minute walk from the school. Total places are limited to 200 and the event status is open.

Entry fees are shown by the organiser: a discounted entry price of £15 is available until 11 Sep 2026 and the standard price is £18. Discounted entries apply to members of SA EA WA. The organiser covers the service fee of 4 percent, minimum 50p. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
