Hawthorn Half Day Relay & Ultra

Hawthorn Half Day Relay & Ultra is a time-based endurance event held in Terre Haute. Participants log laps on a scenic 5K loop that combines trail and road. The event offers both 6 hour and 12 hour formats; a 1/2 mile short course is available during the final 30 minutes so laps can be completed on time.

Distances offered

  • 50 miles (6 hour)
  • 100 miles (12 hour)

Race categories include solo entries and team entries. The 6 hour options allow solo runners or teams of 2-3. The 12 hour options allow solo runners or teams of 3-6. Relay teams may divide laps among members as they choose. Each loop passes through a Runners Village where participants have a designated space for tents, crew, and gear. Race Headquarters provides cold drinks, snacks, and essentials.

Campgrounds along the course offer optional park camping with restrooms and water stations; advance reservation is recommended. Event services include live online tracking, professional race photography, a post-race party with awards, overall awards and finisher medals, and food offerings such as a baked potato bar and pie. The event marks its 21st anniversary and centers on continuous movement over a set time rather than a fixed distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
