The 50 miles race has a minimum age of 18 and requires mandatory safety equipment, including a fluid belt or pack with at least 1 L capacity, a bandage of minimum 3 m, a personal drinking/folding cup, a whistle, a mobile phone, and a survival blanket. Organizers perform equipment checks and may apply time penalties for missing items. Recommended gear notes that a headlamp of at least 200 lumens is advised.

The 50 miles course is run as four laps with cumulative cutoff windows; severe snow or ice may alter time limits. Aid stations and route depots provide drinks, snacks, fruit, and some hot items. Start numbers are to be collected no later than 30 minutes before the race; Friday pickup hours are available. Refund rules apply with full refund before 1 November minus a fee; thereafter start fees are nonrefundable, but transfers of race numbers are permitted.
