(Day before) Halloween Vampire Rogaine 2026
This is a social orienteering rogaine held on Friday 30 October 2026 at Rabbit Island, Tasman, New Zealand. The event runs for a maximum of 60 minutes and uses a Vampire-O format that mixes rogaining with tag. Participants receive a rogaine map and an answer sheet while a small number of starters begin as Vampires. When a participant is tagged by a Vampire they exchange roles: the newly tagged person becomes the Vampire and the ex-Vampire continues as a rogainer with the map and answer sheet. The identity of Vampires can change many times during the event. After 45 minutes a finish Sanctuary opens and the course closes at 60 minutes. The winner is the person holding the map and answer sheet with the most collected controls.
The Event Centre is on the east end of Rabbit Island near the toilet block, with direction signs posted. All main roads will remain open during the event so participants must take care when crossing roads. Participants should bring their own pen or highlighter. Costumes are optional and there is a prize for best dressed.
Entry fees per person are listed as Junior club member $5, Senior club member $5, and Non-club member $10. Pre-registration is preferred so the right number of maps can be ordered, but day‑of electronic payment is possible by card and mobile phone.
