Grit and Guts Trail Race 2027
Grit and Guts is a trail running event at Mt. Nebo near Dardanelle, Arkansas. Two courses use a network of named trails and connectors on and around Sunset point and Sunrise point.

- 13.1 miles Half Grit and Guts
- 20 miles Full Grit and Guts
Both courses follow a routed loop that includes the 3C trail, Lizard Tail, Sunrise and Sunset connectors, Miller's Goat, Ox Pull, and other singletrack. The full 20 mile distance adds the Chickalah loop. The route passes a seasonal waterfall and reaches Sunrise point for views of the river valley. Part of the Ox Pull is an out-and-back section to a parking lot before returning uphill.
The terrain is rocky and involves sustained climbing and descending; the course typically takes longer than a road half marathon. Aid stations are placed approximately every 4 to 6 miles. The event is organized as a fun run with free entry; commemorative shirts are available for purchase at $15 plus tax and are picked up the week of the race. Proceeds support local cross country teams and the Friends of Nebo.
Parking is in the Sunset point parking lots and temporary parking across the road; participants are asked not to park at the visitor center. Bathrooms are available at the campground and pool area near the top, with possible porta-potties. The start is at the Sunset point parking lot and a group photo is taken before the race begins.
