About the race
The Veitscher Skytrail is a multi-discipline trail running event held at the foot of the Hohe Veitsch with start and finish on the Brunnalm. The event traces a long tradition: since 1987 the Veitscher Grenzstaffellauf has been held as a roughly 54 km single or relay race along the municipal boundary of St. Barbara im Mürztal. From 2026 the format is expanded with several new races organised by B-TRAIL.Events.
The event programme includes a range of distances and formats:
- Kids Trail 500 m to 1500 m with obstacles on the Brunnalm event arena.
- Vertical Race 3.7 km and 918 m ascent, a steep mountain run with summit on the Hohe Veitsch and ÖM classification.
- Easy Trail 7.74 km and 453 m ascent on runnable trails with views at the foot of the Hohe Veitsch.
- Speed Trail 16.59 km and 1116 m ascent featuring the Teufelssteig, high loop on the Hohe Veitsch, and a steep downhill to Brunnalm.
- Skyrace 20.32 km and 1922 m ascent with a double summit on the Hohe Veitsch, steep climbs, technical downhills and ridge sections at the Wildkamm.
- Marathon Trail 54 km and 2511 m ascent, the classic Grenzstaffellauf now run as a marathon trail with ÖM classification.
The event schedule includes race briefings, number pickup, and an after race gathering. Media and results are published after the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
