GreenFest on the Greenbelt

GreenFest on the Greenbelt is a community event on April 10, 2027 at FM 428 Greenbelt Park in Aubrey, Texas. The festival combines recreation, food, vendors, music, and family activities with a set of organized walks and runs.

Distances included:

  • 1 Mile Fun Run around the festival area for spectators to enjoy
  • 5K Trail Run mostly off-road along the Greenbelt Trail and across the Elm Fork Bridge
  • 10K Trail Run longer trail distance with some more technical sections on unpaved surfaces

The 5K route introduces participants to off-road running and equestrian trails. The 10K contains sections that are more technical than the usual Greenbelt surface. Dogs on a leash are allowed on all courses; strollers are not permitted because much of the course is unpaved.

Participants in the 5K and 10K receive a swag bag that includes sponsor items, an event t-shirt, a finisher medal, and finish line refreshments. Both races award prizes to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the top three male and female finishers in these age groups: 14 and under, 15 to 24, 25 to 34, 35 to 44, 45 to 54, 55 to 64, and 65 and over.

The event is presented by The Greenbelt Alliance of Denton County, a 501(c)(3) community volunteer organization. Proceeds support the Texas State Parks and Wildlife Department, with funds used locally to improve the Greenbelt and Ray Roberts Lake State Park.

There is a pre-race packet pick up on Friday, April 10 at the race site from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M.; participants who cannot attend may pick up packets on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
