Great Guernsey Trail 12Ks of Christmas
The 9th Annual Great Guernsey Trail 12Ks of Christmas takes place on December 12, 2026 at Leatherwood Park in Lore City, Ohio. The event showcases the paved Great Guernsey Trail and supports the Guernsey County Community Development Corp., a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Distances offered:
- 12K (7.45 miles)
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 5K Family Fun Run/Walk (3.1 miles, non-timed)
All courses are out-and-back routes held entirely on the paved trail, following Leatherwood Creek in a traffic-free corridor. The 12K and 5K Race are timed events with chip timing services provided by Muskingum Multi-Sports; participants in those races are eligible for overall and age-group awards. The Family Fun Run/Walk is a non-timed event and is not eligible for age-group awards. Walkers are welcome and finisher medals will be awarded to all participants.
Awards include trophies for the top three overall finishers in each race and medals for the top three in each age category: 14-under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. Aid stations with water will be available at turnarounds and the finish. Food, hot chocolate, and warming stations will be provided at the finish area.
The event includes a toy drive for the Guernsey County Secret Santa; individuals who bring a new, unwrapped toy are entered for a chance to win gift cards or cash. Race packets contain a race-logo t-shirt and a sticker; participants registered by November 27 will receive a T-shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
