About the race
The Gran Vuelta Valle del Genal is a set of mountain running events organized in the Valle del Genal. The event offers circular routes with significant elevation gain and timed completion limits. Races take place in and around villages of the Genal valley, including Benalauría and Parauta, and involve local institutions and sponsors.
Distances and formats:
- Trail: 53 km, 2800 m positive elevation, maximum 12 hours.
- Ultra: 129 km, 6300 m positive elevation, maximum 31 hours.
- Relays: teams of three runners alternate over the 129 km route divided into four sectors.
The routes are circular and include multiple aid and control points as implied by the relay sector structure. The program lists official bib pickup and participant reception events in Benalauría for the trail and in Parauta for the ultra and relays, and the schedule includes an award ceremony and formal race closure. The race is organized by Puraventura with institutional support from Diputación de Málaga and Junta de Andalucía and collaborates with a number of valley municipalities and commercial partners. Results pages and lists for waitlisted participants are maintained for the trail, relays and ultra. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
