About the race
The 3rd Golden State Orienteering Champs takes place Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 8, 2026, in Fresno, California. Registration is open for the event, which spans three days of orienteering competition and club scoring. Organizers will again introduce three new maps for the series, so competitors will not have prior familiarity with the terrain used for the races. The event schedule includes a Trail-O on Saturday held alongside the Middle distance, and the Long course will be held at Ruth McKenzie Table Mountain Preserve. The series is tied 1-1 after Southern California won the 2024 edition and Northern California won in 2025.
The event brings together Southern California clubs LAOC and SDO and Northern California clubs BAOC, GCO, Truckee, and Nav-X for regional scoring. Non-California participants may take part; to score as an individual or for Northern or Southern California, participants must be members of one of the listed clubs. Scoring counts each competitor’s best two of the three races. Group camping is available at Eastman Lake’s Codorniz Recreation Area Group Campground South for Friday and Saturday nights.
An organizing team is managing permits, mapping, and course setup for the weekend. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
