Goldbelt Tram - Mount Roberts Trail Run
The Goldbelt Tram - Mount Roberts Trail Run is scheduled for August 22, 2026, in Juneau, Alaska. This edition marks the 40th anniversary of the event. The course begins at the Mt. Roberts Tramway parking lot and follows neighborhood streets before continuing onto the trail above the tram.
The route runs up South Franklin and continues up North Franklin, turns right on 6th Street, then left on Gold Street, proceeds to the top of Gold Street and follows Basin Road to the Mt. Roberts Trailhead and parking area on the right. From the trailhead the route goes past Mountain House and the Nature Center at the top of the tram and continues up to the cross at the summit. The course includes an approximate 1,800-foot climb over about 3.5 miles.
Logistics vary with tram operation. If the tram is running, participants receive a tram ride down after finishing at the cross and water and snacks are provided at the Mountain House Theatre. If the tram is not running, participants must provide their own nourishment and arrange their descent back to their vehicles. Official timers will be present at the cross regardless of tram operation. The event is part of the NAO Cup series. Registration fees are listed as Adults $15 and Youth 18 and under $5, with a member discount noted; race day registration is available beginning at 8:15 a.m. Prizes include awards for the first finisher and random drawings. All participants receive a tram pass for later use. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
