Glendalough Night Challenge
The Glendalough Night Challenge is a night mountain race held in County Wicklow around Glendalough Upper Lake carpark. The event offers two new marked routes: a long course of 8.5 km with 455 m of ascent and a short course of 4.2 km. The terrain is technical and the route is fully marked. GPS devices are allowed.
Entry fees are stated as €7 for seniors and €5 for over 65s and under 18s. Entries open Monday 19 October 2026 and close Thursday 22 October 2026. Parking at the upper lake carpark is available; there is a €5 carpark fee.
Mandatory kit follows Level B - Standard and must be carried by all runners. The organiser lists: a waterproof jacket, hat or buff, gloves, a whistle, a charged mobile phone with an emergency number stored, and a foil blanket, bivvy bag, or equivalent. Organisers will confirm the exact kit to be carried on the day and may perform random checks. A torch suitable for running at night, preferably a head torch, is required; a backup torch or spare battery is recommended.
Eligibility: runners and walkers turning 14 in 2026 or older may enter the short course; runners turning 18 in 2026 or older may enter the long course.
