Cobb & Co Backyard Ultra : Nine Mile Camping Grounds

The Cobb & Co Backyard Ultra is scheduled for 14 November 2026 at the Cobb & Co Nine Mile Camping Grounds, 1484 Noosa Road, Tandur, Gympie Qld. The event uses the Backyard Ultra format: competitors run a loop repeatedly, with each completed loop allowing the runner to continue to the next.

Each loop is 6.7km long with about 32m of elevation gain. Runners must complete each loop within the allotted hour for it to count. The last person to complete a loop on their own is the winner; if the final runner cannot complete a loop alone there is no winner. The course is marked with reflective orange and silver flagging tape, red arrows on a white background at intersections, and red crosses to indicate wrong turns.

Rules restrict movement off course except for restroom use, and non-competitors are not allowed on the course. Personal aid on course is prohibited; receiving medical aid on the course leads to disqualification. Head torches are mandatory for night loops; a first aid station will be available near the start/finish area.

Entry costs $195 and the minimum age is 15 years; participants 18 and under require a parent or guardian to be present. Race entry refunds are available until 1 November 2026 subject to a $30 administration fee. Transfers to another person or event are not permitted.

The event is staged entirely within the campground so runners, crew and spectators remain close to the action. Camping and accommodation are booked directly with Cobb & Co. Day visit passes for crew and spectators cost $5 per person payable on arrival and are valid until 4pm. Camping rates per night are listed by Cobb & Co and include unpowered sites; some onsite accommodation has a minimum two night booking. Allocated crew space for each competitor is 3 x 3 metres.
