Old Baldy Ultra
Old Baldy Ultra is a trail event at Garner State Park in Concan, TX on March 6, 2027. The course uses mostly park single-track and natural trails with rocky and dirt surfaces. Historic average temperatures for the event date range from about 48 to 76 degrees.
Distances offered:
- 5K - 1 modified loop, 600 ft elevation gain
- 10K - 1 loop, 1500 ft elevation gain

The route includes sustained climbs and descents. The organizer notes roughly 1400 ft elevation gain per 6-mile loop; the 50K finisher description references about 7000 ft total elevation gain. Main aid station is at the start/finish (mile 0 and mile 6) with road and crew access and drop bag availability. A secondary Baldy aid station at mile 2.82 is not on the 5K course and has no road access. Aid stations provide hot and cold foods, snacks, water, electrolytes, pickle juice, and ice.
Required equipment includes a water carrying system or hydration vest (32 oz recommended). The 10K ruck has weight rules: 20 lb for participants 150 lb or less, 30 lb for those over 150 lb. No pacers are allowed. Participants who leave early must notify staff at the start/finish area. Campgrounds with restrooms and showers are adjacent to the start/finish; nightly fees are listed at $20 to $35. All finishers receive a tri-blend T-shirt and a finisher medal; awards include first place male/female for each distance and additional patches and medals for specific events.
