Frightening 5er
The Frightening 5er is a nighttime 5K held at FortWhyte Alive in Winnipeg where trails are presented with a haunted theme featuring staged surprises, low-light conditions, and themed elements along the route. Participants navigate the trails after dark and encounter costume-friendly scenes; costumes are optional.
Registered participants receive a limited-edition sweatshirt, a custom race bib, a finishers' medal, a post-race treat, and a complimentary beer or beverage. Race package pick-up is at Big Sky Run Co., 194 Tache Ave, on Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28 from 4–7pm. Due to capacity limits, only registered participants are permitted on event night. All participants must be 18 years or older, and pets are not allowed on the trails.
The event operates with multiple timed waves that sold out and the event page indicates the event is full. Registration fees shown include mandatory charges; one listed price is CA$78.27. The event supports FortWhyte Alive fundraising, with CA$1,148.72 raised toward a CA$2,000 goal to support environmental education programming and trail maintenance.
