About the race
Fright at the Falls is a 5 km festive run and walk held in Grand Falls, New Brunswick. The event features two entry categories:
- 5 km Youth
- 5 km Adult
All prices in CAD $. Entry fees listed are $10.00 for youth and $20.00 for adults. Registration is available online and there is limited same-day registration at the Malobeam (Malobiannah) Tourist Information Centre, where bib pick up and participant waivers are handled the morning of the event. Free parking is available at the Grand Falls Museum building across Madawaska Road by the falls.
The course follows multiple viewpoints beside the falls and the gorge area. The route goes from the visitor information centre across the Ron Turcotte bridge, along Broadway Blvd and Victoria St, then onto the Gorge Trail past a zipline, the La Rochelle Centre and waterpark, and around the campground with some stairs and elevation changes. Runners ascend Manse St alongside Union Cemetery, pass a viewpoint of the Saint John River, then return along the Gorge Trail to the finish at the Malobeam visitor centre. The course has approximately 120 m of elevation gain and is not certified.
Timing is not chip based; a live official elapsed time digital race clock will be displayed at the finish. Photographer coverage and finisher medals are provided. Prizes include random draws and best Halloween costume awards. The event was established in 2025 and offers a Youth Series affiliation through RunNB.
