Freeze Your Gizzard
The Town of Leesburg presents the Freeze Your Gizzard event at Ida Lee Park on Saturday, November 21, 2026. The event features a cross country style 5K and a 1 mile fun run through Ida Lee Park’s 138 acres. The course includes several steep hills and uses uneven terrain; the race starts and finishes at the park gazebo. For safety, dogs, wagons, and baby strollers are not permitted on the course.
Entry benefits and participant items vary by distance. All pre-registered 5K runners are guaranteed a long sleeve performance shirt. One mile finishers receive a commemorative medal at the finish line. Runners are encouraged to bring their own water bottle. Packet pick up is available on the two days prior to the event and on race day at the Ida Lee Park Recreation Center.
Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers and to the first through third place male and female finishers in age groups: 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 plus. Parking is located in the front grass field of Ida Lee Park with event access from North King Street; parking at the recreation center is not available.
The event partners with Loudoun Hunger Relief; participants are asked to bring two or more nonperishable food items for donation. Post race refreshments and door prizes will be hosted by Loudoun Hunger Relief. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
