Fort Henry 5KXC & Kids 1KXC
The Kingston Road Runners Association stages an annual cross country event on Fort Henry Hill on a well-groomed trail that overlooks Fort Henry, the Royal Military College and the city of Kingston. The event includes a youth 1 km race held prior to the main 5 km race and is part of the Kingston Kids Race Series.
Distances:
- 5KXC race on a looped cross country course.
- Kids 1KXC for children 12 years and younger.
The 5KXC uses a 2.5 km loop with small rolling hills, mostly grass surface, matching the loop used for the National Cross Country course in 2018. There will not be a water station on course this year; water bottles and pre-packaged snacks are handed out at the finish area.
Entry fees are listed as $40 for the 5KXC with a $5 member discount code available to KRRA members, and $10 for the Kids 1KXC with no discount. The first 100 registered 5KXC entrants receive a branded beer glass. All 1KXC finishers receive a Kingston Kids Race Series finisher ribbon.
The 5KXC includes a team competition with Youth (19 and under) and Open divisions. Teams require two male and two female runners, are scored by placing with lowest total winning, and top three teams in each division receive medals. Individual medals are awarded for top overall finishers and for age categories, and draw prizes are presented during the awards ceremony.
