Florida Roots Trail Race at Fort Clinch
The Florida Roots Trail Race at Fort Clinch is a trail running event on January 23, 2027, held at Fort Clinch State Park in Fernandina Beach, Florida. The event uses a single 10K loop that begins and ends at the Fort Clinch visitor center. Distances are offered as repeated loops of that course:
- 10K : 1 loop, 6.2 miles
- 30K : 3 loops, 18.6 miles
- 50K : 5 loops, 31 miles
The course follows canopied singletrack through maritime hammock and along coastal shorelines, passing the historic fort walls. Terrain varies from sand to well-packed dirt and includes many short, sometimes steep climbs. Roots are frequently present on the trail.
Aid infrastructure on the loop includes two stations, with a second station at about 2.5 miles and a start/finish area that accepts drop bags. Stations provide water, electrolyte drink, food, and bathrooms.
Race services included with entry are chip timing by MCM, a race shirt, a finisher award, and post-race food and drinks. Awards include finisher awards and Florida State Park passes for top male and female finishers and top masters (40+) in each distance.
The event emphasizes community and directs 100% of profits to Florida State Parks. Group tent camping is available at Fort Clinch for the nights before the race, and hotels on Amelia Island are within a short drive. Registration closes January 22, 2027 at 11:59 PM ET. No pacers are allowed on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
