Firelane Trail Trial
The Firelane Trail Trial is a time trial trail race held on Firelane 1 in Forest Park on May 8, 2027. The course is an out and back that covers 4.45 miles with a total of 1,266 feet of gain and the same total loss. The route stays on Firelane 1 and crosses the Wildwood and Leif Erikson trails; runners should watch for cross traffic at those intersections.
Runners start in waves at ten minute intervals and complete the climb to the turnaround gate before returning to the trailhead. During registration participants select preferred start slots and organizers assign times from the available slots. A public start list is maintained so participants can see assigned groups.
After the race there is a gathering at Great Notion Brewing near the trailhead where live results are displayed and food and beverage options are available. Bib pickup occurs at the start area; there is a tent at the start for leaving a coat.
Parking at the trailhead is limited, with about 20 spots available; additional nearby parking and street parking are sometimes used. Registration opens December 1. Fees vary by date and can reach a higher day of rate; there are no transfers and no refunds. Cancellations made more than 30 days before the race receive a 50 percent credit toward a future race; cancellations within 30 days receive no credit. Poles are not allowed for this race.
