Fire Tower Trail Races
The Fire Tower Trail Races on October 3, 2026 are a trail running event held in St. Croix State Park and the scenic Kettle River valley. The course travels through forests, along rivers, and across prairie. The organizers describe the course as flat and note generous cut offs for longer distances.
The event offers food and camping at the race headquarters. It is presented as an accessible, safe, and welcoming, small old-school style race. Registration is open for the event.
Runners can choose from four distances:
- 100K
- 50K
- 35K
- 11K
Runners in the 50K and 100K will climb to the top of a historic fire tower mid-run; the 100K includes that climb twice. A vertigo option is available for participants who cannot climb the tower all the way.
Results, photos, and race reports are maintained for past editions. The event takes place within Minnesota’s largest State Park and highlights natural scenery in the Kettle River valley. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
