About the race
Fire on the Mountain 50K Trail Race takes place on November 1, 2026 in Little Orleans, MD, within Green Ridge State Forest. The event offers two distance options and organized aid support along the course.
Distances:
- 50K about 31.95 miles, out-and-back course with seven aid stations (three are visited twice).
- 25K about 16.3 miles, three aid stations (one is visited twice), mixed trail and road terrain.
The 25K route includes approximately 6.5 miles of trail that can be technical, with roots, rocks and narrow "billy goat" sections near the creek, plus about 9.6 miles of forest service road and improved dirt roads. The 50K course has an oasis at the midway point in addition to the listed aid stations.
Cutoff times are specified for each distance: 10 hours and 0 seconds for the 50K, and 4 hours 45 minutes for the 25K. Finishers who complete their event within the official cutoff time receive a finisher's premium. The event notes no refunds, no deferments, and no transfers, with limited exceptions.
A single training run is scheduled in the fall of 2026 on Sunday, September 27, and will use sections of the red trail covering roughly 7 to 15 miles.
