Fire On The Mountain 50K Trail Race
The Fire on the Mountain 50K Trail Race takes place in the Green Ridge State Forest near Little Orleans, Maryland. This event features two distinct distances on an out-and-back course through forest terrain. Participants can choose between the following distances:
- 50K: An approximately 31.95 mile course with a 10-hour time limit.
- 25K: An approximately 16.3 mile course with a 4.5-hour time limit.
The course utilizes a variety of surfaces, including technical trails with roots and rocks, forest service roads, and improved dirt roads. Some sections consist of thin track "billy goat" trails positioned above a creek. The 50K distance includes seven aid stations, while the 25K includes three. Official finishers who complete their respective courses within the established time limits receive a finisher's premium.
A semi-organized training run is scheduled for late September at the finish line location to help participants familiarize themselves with sections of the red trail. This run typically covers between 7 and 15 miles.
This race is part of the 2Lowe Run Co series. Runners who participate in at least five out of seven qualifying events during the 2026 season earn Distinguished Participant status and a special award.
