Fei Sheehy Challenge
The Fei Sheehy Challenge is a three day mountain crossing held over three consecutive days in August 2026. The route crosses the Comeragh, Galty and Knockmealdown mountain ranges. Participants may elect to complete all three days or to enter for one or two days.
The event is organised by Na Sléibhte Hillwalking Club and is endorsed by Mountaineering Ireland. It is run to raise funds for voluntary and charitable organisations and is held in memory of a child who died of osteosarcoma.
The event is self-navigation and self-reliance only; no walk leaders are provided and participants are expected to use and practise their personal mountain skills. The cumulative distance for the three days is circa 92 km and the total ascent and descent is circa 4,200 m.
Daily routes and approximate metrics:
- Friday - Comeragh Mountains: 32 km, 1,400 m ascent
- Saturday - Galty Mountains: 30 km, 1,700 m ascent
- Sunday - Knockmealdown Mountains: 30 km, 1,100 m ascent
Entry options and fees were published for Treble Crossing, Double Crossing and Single Crossing, with an entry minimum age of 18 or older. New entries for the 2026 event closed before the event dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
