Feel The Burn Trail Run : Craigieburn high country courses
Feel The Burn is a trail running event through Flock Hill Station, Castle Hill Station and Department of Conservation land in the Craigieburn high country. The courses include riverbed, gravel road and trail running and can expose participants to hot, windy or cold wet weather. Some sections require wet feet, and parts of the 20 km and 30 km routes run on high exposed ridges and rocky outcrops where falls are possible.
Distances:
- 30 km The Full Burn
- 20 km The Incinerator
- 10 km The Toastie
- 5 km The Spark
Aid stations are placed approximately every 6 km with food, water and first aid; the event lists four aid stations on the 30 km course, three on the 20 km course, and one for the 10 km and 5 km courses. The organiser provides timing chips, split timing for longer distances, radio communication at marshals and aid stations, tail-end support and local medical support from St Johns at race base. The course may change because of high winds, extreme cold or rising river levels; marshals will be present at high-risk areas and crossings.
Competitors must stay on established tracks and can be disqualified for shortcuts. The event requires compulsory gear for the 20 km and 30 km distances and recommends similar items for 10 km entrants; gear checks occur at registration and on course.
