Extremo Sul Ultramarathon

Extremo Sul Ultramarathon is a 226 km non stop foot crossing along the world’s longest beach between Chuí and Cassino in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The event is scheduled for 20–22 November 2026 and has a 52 hour time limit for completion. The route is linear and runs exclusively along the beach, crossing sections of soft and compact sand and stretches exposed to wind, rain, fog and high tide; parts of the course can be totally isolated.

The race is organised as semi‑self‑sufficient with several official support bases positioned along the route where participants can access water, isotonic drinks, solid food, medical support and rest areas. The published schedule lists seven bases with distances and cutoffs; athletes must be autonomous between these bases.

Participation is limited and subject to entry criteria: minimum age 18, presentation of a medical certificate, acceptance of the event regulations and proof of at least one 100 km race completed since 2024. A SPOT tracking device is mandatory; rental or integration fees apply and the device must be active during the event. The organisation enforces strict rules on external assistance, pacers and mandatory equipment, which includes lights, whistle, identification, thermal insulation, minimum 2 litre fluid capacity, reflective vest for night, and a first aid kit.
