About the race
Eden VK is an uphill vertical kilometer event held at Eden Forest, Paradyskloof Weg, Stellenbosch. The route is an uphill-only course of approximately 5 km with about 1000 m of vertical gain and includes sections that require boulder hopping and exposure to heights.
Entries are open until race day or until capacity is reached, with equal allocation for female and male entrants. Each runner must register individually; entry transfers are permitted. The event does not permit participants under 18.
The race is self-sufficient with no aid stations. Compulsory gear includes at least 1 liter of liquid, a waterproof jacket, and a cellphone. Running poles are not allowed. There is a race cutoff of two hours for the uphill section. A prize-giving is scheduled once the leading finishers have descended.
A GPX file will be provided to entrants, and the route corresponds to a named Strava segment. The event is subject to weather and natural-disaster considerations, carries no refunds, and requires completion of an indemnity waiver before race day.
