About the race
The Eden VK is an uphill vertical kilometer event held on 29 November 2026 at Eden Forest, Paradyskloof Weg, Stellenbosch. The route is a single uphill course that gains 1000 m over approximately 5 km. The start location is the Eden Forest gate and the course includes sections requiring boulder hopping and exposed terrain; athletes with a severe fear of heights are advised to reconsider participation. Entries remain open until capacity is reached or race day, with limited entries available and a 50% allocation for female and 50% for male entry slots.
The event is uphill only with a two-hour race cutoff. Participants must be self-sufficient; there are no aid stations on course. Compulsory gear requirements include carrying at least 1 liter of liquid, a waterproof jacket, and a cellphone. Running poles are not permitted.
Entry transfers are allowed. Minors under 18 are not permitted to enter. A signed indemnity waiver is required before race day; competitors take part at their own risk.
A Strava segment is associated with the route and a GPX file will be provided to entrants via email. Merchandise can be purchased online and collected at the event, with sales occurring on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
