East Texas Ultra - Mineola, TX
The East Texas Ultra is a trail running and rucking event held at Mineola Nature Preserve in Mineola, Texas. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50K
- 28K
- 14K
- 7K
- 7K RUCK
The course uses a mix of gravel, dirt and pavement and follows named trails including Navajo, Greer Hill, Sendera, and Rawhide. The 50K comprises seven loops, the 28K four loops, the 14K two loops, and the 7K one loop. Elevation is slightly hilly, with about 200 feet of gain per loop. Historic average temperatures are listed between 64 and 83 degrees.
This is a cupless event; water refill stations are available for participants to refill their own bottles or hydration systems. Pacing is limited to one pacer per runner and is permitted only on the last two loops of the 50K. The 7K RUCK requires a minimum weight of 25 pounds and allows a ruck sack or vest.
Participants receive event apparel and finisher awards including soft t-shirts, finisher medals, a 50K finisher medal, and a 7K RUCK patch. Additional awards include first place prizes by gender for each distance and a Dead Freakin Last award for the 50K. The course is marked and supported with aid station food and hydration; volunteers staff the event. The race is part of the Texas Ultra Series, whose finisher medals combine into a larger Lone Star award, and top finishers may qualify for a larger championship event near Austin.
