Dunstable Downs Half Marathon
The Dunstable Downs Half Marathon is a trail race held on the National Trust estate at Dunstable Downs, Bedfordshire. The event is scheduled for 20 June 2027 and is listed as a UTMB World Series Index Race. The course distance is 21.2km with over 450m of elevation gain and a maximum field of 250 runners. There is a four hour time limit.
The route starts at the National Trust centre and leads out to the Tree Cathedral and Bison Hill, then completes a full loop of Kensworth Quarry with an aid station near the 10km point. Runners rejoin the Downs for an out and back to Five Knoles and then return along the lower Downs, finishing back at the centre. Navigation is fully marked with orange arrow markers and ribbons and marshals at sharper turns; a digital GPX route is available as a backup.
Two on-route aid stations sit at about 6.7km and 13.7km and provide water, Coke, Precision Fuel & Hydration gels and chews, jelly babies, crisps and sweets. This is a cupless event, so runners should carry a reusable cup or bottle. The event base offers parking (charge applies or free for National Trust members), toilets, bag drop and a café serving hot and cold food after the race.
Entry is open to anyone aged 17 or older with no qualifying standard. The race is licensed by the Trail Running Association and held under UKA rules. Course records stand at 01:24:55 for men (2026) and 01:40:44 for women (2025). Live timing and downloadable photos are provided after the event.
