Duff Dog Backyard Ultra
The Duff Dog Backyard Ultra is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at Blue Mounds State Park near Luverne, MN. The event uses a loop course that follows the park trail system and is described as runner friendly.
The loop length is 4 miles 880 feet (metric equivalent 6.7056 kilometers). Surface composition is mostly grass (about 95 percent), with a little gravel and a short paved section. The runner support area includes shade and a shelter building, and there is nearby camping available just off the course for family and friends.
The event follows the backyard ultra format. Each loop starts precisely one hour after the previous loop, with three, two, and one minute warnings before each start. All competitors must be in the starting corral at the bell and must start on the bell. Except for restroom visits, competitors may not leave the course until a loop is finished. Personal aid is not allowed during a loop, though common aid stations are permitted. Artificial aids including trekking poles are not allowed. Timing of individual loops is optional.
The winner is the last person to complete a loop; all others are recorded by the distance they covered. The race is open ended and continues until a single runner completes one more loop than all others. If no runner can do so, there is no winner.
