Duchy an Dinas 5
Duchy an Dinas 5 is a third year, organised running event now included in the Cornwall MTRS. The race is a 5 mile mixed terrain course that starts and finishes at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery in Lostwithiel.
The route is approximately 90% trail and includes over 1000 ft of elevation gain. It runs from the nursery into the valley, up to the English Heritage site Restormel Castle where competitors complete a loop with panoramic views, then drops back into Restormel woods. The course continues toward the town of Lostwithiel, crosses the valley and the River Fowey, and returns to the nursery. A private section of woods behind the nursery is used only for this event before the finish at the Woodland Terrace Tepee.
Event details include prizes for the top three male and female finishers, age category awards and a few spot prizes. All finishers receive a medal. The minimum age is 18 years and there is a two hour cut off. The event is cupless and there is no bag drop. A percentage of entry fees will be donated to Mind Cornwall. Parking at the venue is limited and participants are asked to car share where possible. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
