Dirty Dog Trail Run in Midland, MI
The Dirty Dog Trail Run is an off-road event held in Midland City Forest at 2840 E. Monroe Rd, Midland, MI 48642. The event includes multiple course options and encourages participation with or without dogs. Dogs must be kept on leashes and handlers are asked to manage dog interactions and consider each animal's limitations.
The course combines unpaved two-track and single-track trails that run over flat land and hills through a 520 acre preserve of woods, creeks, marshes and bridges. A separate one mile walk follows a flatter, unpaved path through the woods.
Race timing is handled with chip timing and a finish-line kiosk for time and place. Awards are distributed after the race, and finisher medals were issued in 2025. A water station is located midcourse and fruit, snacks and water are provided after the event.
The event supports animal-related causes, with proceeds designated for Shelterhouse to help victims of domestic violence care for pets and for SOS Animal Rescue to support foster and spay/neuter assistance programs. Event management and race course operations are handled by Dig Deep Races. In case of thunder or lightning before or during expected activity, organizers will postpone and require participants to wait in vehicles until conditions are clear. If the event is cancelled, registrations will be converted to a virtual format and no refunds will be issued.
