Dion Ignite the Night Snowshoe Race
The Dion Ignite the Night Snowshoe Race is a night snowshoe event at Upper Canada Village in Morrisburg, ON. It is part of the Dion Canadian Snowshoe Running Series and is noted as the only night race in the series. The event supports the Winchester District Memorial Hospital Foundation Family Care Fund; funds raised after expenses will be donated to that fund.
The course is a 5 km loop through the village and its holiday lights, run once for the 5 km Challenge and twice for the 10 km Dion Points Series race. The loop is mostly flat with one hill that 5 km runners climb twice and 10 km runners climb four times. The course is single-track in places and marked with flags. A reliable, fully charged headlamp or light is required.
Race services include bib pick-up and indoor use of the Harvest Barn for refreshments, awards and door prizes, subject to health restrictions. There is on-site parking with directions to the Harvest Barn; participants are asked to park on one side of the roadway if lots are full. Snowshoe rental inventory has been spoken for. Dogs are not permitted. The event will be capped at 180 participants. If there is no snow the race may be held as a trail run and the course may be altered; there are no transfers or refunds.
