About the race
Devil’s Trail Utrechtse Heuvelrug takes place on 3 and 4 October 2026 at recreatieterrein Het Doornse Gat, between Doorn and Leersum in Nationaal Park De Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The start location is the former excavation with the iconic sand hill that features directly on the course.
Routes are waymarked and checked the morning of the event. GPX files are sent to participants about one week before the event. The event offers a range of distances and a looped Ultra format. A KidsTrail for youth up to about 12 years runs over one or two short rounds; all finishing children receive a Devil’s Trail medal.
Distances include:
- 8 km Ruiterberg Trail
- 16 km Breeveen Trail
- 26 km Hoge Ginkel Trail
- 36 km Galgenberg Trail
- 160 km Duivelse Ultra composed of 24 laps of 6.66 km plus a final longer lap
Aid stations are placed on the routes with items such as salty snacks, sweets, orange segments, water and Tailwind sport drink. The event is bekerloos; participants must bring their own cup or bidon. The finish area is at Het Doornse Gat with free parking, food trucks and drinks. Photographers record the event. A minimum of €1 per entry supports local land managers for nature maintenance.
