About the race
The Denali50K is a 50K road race on the historic Denali Highway in Alaska, held on June 19, 2027. The event is organized by Spirit Trips and is staged from Maclaren Summit to the finish near Alpine Creek Lodge, adjacent to the entrance to Denali National Park. The field is limited to 50 runners.
The course begins at Maclaren Summit (Mile 37 from Paxson) and descends northwest toward the Maclaren River. The route passes Thermokarst features, eskers, and kettle lakes formed by past glacial activity. There is a single aid station located at Mile 18 at Clearwater Creek Wayside. The finish area is at Alpine Creek Lodge, which also serves as the start for the Denali100K.
Runners may be accompanied by an optional support vehicle and crew who can provide food and water during the race; pacers are not allowed for the 50K. A van shuttle from Alpine Creek Lodge to the start at Maclaren Summit is available for a $25 ticket that must be purchased in advance.
Applicants must submit qualifying race information and must have completed at least three marathons in the previous two years, with one of those being a trail marathon unless waived. Registration closes May 15, 2027, or when the 50-runner limit is reached. Entry fee information is listed as USD 189.87. There are no refunds; deferments may be granted at the race director's discretion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
