Denali 100K
The Denali100K is a 100K endurance race along the Denali Highway in Alaska, organized by Spirit Trips. The route runs from Alpine Creek Lodge to a finish near Cantwell, adjacent to the entrance to Denali National Park, and follows roughly half the length of the historic gravel road.
The course begins at about mile 68, passes the Susitna River Bridge (mile 79.5) and Clearwater Mountain Lodge (mile 82.2). Alpine Creek Lodge offers rooms, cabins, a restaurant and light supplies. Clearwater Mountain Lodge provides a bed and breakfast, food, fuel and tire repair. Beyond Clearwater there are no services or lodging for about 50 miles until the finish.
Racing is for individual runners who must be accompanied by a mandatory support vehicle and crew; one pacer at a time may run with a competitor and may help operate the support vehicle. The event has a maximum completion time of 18 hours. The field is limited to 50 runners and their crews and pacers. Runners who complete the course within 18 hours receive a handmade Alaskan moose antler Denali100K belt buckle and a finishers shirt; there are also overall men and women awards.
Applicants must have completed at least one 50K and two marathons in the previous two years or demonstrate equivalent training. Registration closes May 15 or when the 50 runner cap is reached; accepted runners receive crew and pacer rules. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
