Défis du Parc
Défis du Parc is a multi-discipline outdoor event held in Parc national de la Mauricie, Shawinigan. The 19th edition is scheduled for 11, 12 and 13 September 2026. The event comprises eight challenges, mobilizes about 200 volunteers and gathers around 3,000 participants across cycling, trail running and walking formats.
Distances and routes offered include:
- Road cycling, 105 km, 1,980 m elevation
- Road cycling, 80 km, 1,460 m elevation
- Road cycling, 57 km, 990 m elevation
- Trail race, 21.1 km, 267 m elevation
- Trail race, 14 km, 230 m elevation
- Trail race, 7 km, 115 m elevation
- Youth race, 2 km
- Generational walk, 4 km
Routes use sections of the national park that are reserved for participants for the day. The cycling routes feature recently resurfaced asphalt, winding roads and sustained elevation changes; vehicle traffic is limited on those stretches. Trail courses traverse forest paths, lakeshores and landscapes typical of the Laurentian forest. Organizers report that routes meet recognized standards and that safety and environmental measures are part of event planning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
