About the race
The Dahlgren Heritage Rail Trail 50K is a challenging ultramarathon held in King George, Virginia, along the scenic Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail. This flat, well-maintained out-and-back course spans 31 miles on a converted railroad bed featuring dirt, grass, pine needles, crushed stone, and small gravel surfaces. The trail is mostly shaded by trees, providing relief from the August heat and humidity.
Runners navigate gradual inclines with solid footing and enjoy seven aid stations offering water, Gatorade, and food, including PBJ sandwiches.
