CROW Cariboo Regional Orienteering Weekend
The Cariboo Chilcotin Orienteering Club stages the second edition of CROW on September 5–6, 2026. The weekend includes three events: a Middle distance on a new map, a social sprint event in a provincial park campground, and a Long distance event on a separate map.
Saturday features a Middle distance on the new Woodfrog Lake map north of Lac la Hache. The mapped area is a small undeveloped provincial park around Woodfrog Lake with patches of open grassland and a mix of deciduous and coniferous forest on the east slope of the San Jose River Valley. A late afternoon social sprint takes place in Lac la Hache Provincial Park day use and campground area with the finish on the beach, followed by a communal taco picnic on the beach.
Sunday is a Long distance event on the Dugan South map at 150 Mile House accessed from the south. The area saw selective logging in the months before the event but logging work will have been completed by August. Map revisions are planned and the area is expected to retain detailed mapping and good runability, with some new roads that may affect course planning.
Courses are numbered and described on the event page: Course 1 Beginner (easy and short), Course 2 Novice, Course 3 Intermediate (technical and shorter distance), Course 4 Advanced (very technical and shorter distance), and Course 5 Elite (very technical and longer distance). Fees and refund limits are published, including adult and junior pricing for early bird, regular, and at event registration, a family discount for three or more registrants, free entry for children 0–7 with a registered parent or guardian, and refund percentages tied to cancellation dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
