About the race
The Croom Fools Run is a set of trail races held at Croom within the Withlacoochee State Forest, a site named one of the "10 Coolest Places in North America" by the World Wildlife Fund.
The course is mostly single-track trail with a tree canopy that provides shade. It runs through longleaf pine and scrub oak covered hills, and passes creek bottoms and cypress ponds. The 50 mile route follows three repeat loops on the Croom Hiking Trail, the 50K follows two repeat loops, and the shorter race is a single loop.
Event details include full-color technical T-shirts and top-finisher awards. The race has a long history spanning more than 30 years and the field is limited to 250 participants.
