Crazy Mountain 100

The Crazy Mountain 100 is a 100 mile ultramarathon held July 30 to 31, 2027. The point to point course runs from Wilsall, MT to Lennep, MT. Lottery applications for the race open December 1 and close December 12.

The route crosses Indigenous lands of the Apsaalooke, private property, and public forest service land. The Apsaalooke name for the range is Awaxaawippíia, with "Awaxaawi" meaning mountain and "ppíia" meaning ominous or angry. Some sections of the course include jagged cliff faces, scree fields, and high alpine lakes. Some trails used by the race operate on Custer Gallatin and Helena Lewis and Clark National Forest under special permit from the US Forest Service.

Two family owned cattle ranches host the start and the finish. The Westling Ranch in Wilsall hosts the start and traces its homestead origins to a Swedish immigrant who arrived in the area in 1902; the ranch is now in its fourth generation. The Berg Ranch near Lennep hosts the finish and was homesteaded by a Norwegian immigrant in 1890; it began as a sheep ranch, later shifted to beef cattle and now primarily raises Red Angus, operating under its fifth generation.

Organizers describe the event as intentionally inclusive and provide live tracking for participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
