Cossatot River Trail Run
The Cossatot River Trail Run is an endurance trail event held in Cossatot River State Park - Natural Area in Wickes, AR. The race was established in 2011, paused after 2021, and was revived in 2025 by Texas Outlaw Running with added course markings, medals, shirts, and aid stations. The event follows trails along the Cossatot River and finishes at the state park visitor center.
Distances offered
- 12.5 miles "Half Marathon" point-to-point
- 25 miles "Marathon" out-and-back
The course runs on the River Corridor Trail over rocky, rooty, grassy and dirt single-track. Elevation gain is described as hilly, with approximately 2,000 feet for the half distance and 4,000 feet for the marathon. Historic average temperatures for the date range from about 51 to 72 degrees.
Logistics note that all participants park and finish at the visitor center, with shuttle service used for the half marathon start area. The marathon has an eight hour cutoff. This is a no cup race, so runners are asked to use their own water-carrying system.
Participants receive event shirts if ordered by the stated deadline, finisher medals for each distance, and awards for top finishers. The event includes aid station food and hydration, photography, a fully marked and supported course, and event volunteers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
