Cornish Marathon
The Cornish Marathon is Cornwall’s only all-road marathon, scheduled for 1 November 2026. The race is organised by East Cornwall Harriers and is currently sold out with a waiting list. The event began in 1984 and moved to its present general area in the 1990s.
The course starts at Millennium House, Pensilva, and begins with two circuits around Pensilva before following a scenic circular out-and-back route through Bodmin Moor and the Fowey Valley. Notable landmarks on the route include Doniert’s Stone, Colliford Lake, Dozmary Pool, and Jamaica Inn at Bolventor. The route features several sustained climbs, including an almost continuous two-mile climb from Trenant that gains nearly 100 m of altitude, and a prominent climb up to Foredown between miles 24 and 25. Total elevation is approximately 2200 ft. Water stations are located at miles 3, 6, 9, 14, 17, 21 and 24, with special drinks available at miles 14 and 21. The course measurement was renewed in 2023 and the organisers will use a 6.5 hour cut-off with designated cut-off points along the route. The event includes a donation station for the Liskeard and Looe foodbank on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
