Community Traverse - Sprint 70KM

The Sprint 70 km is an entry distance within the Coast to Coast series. The event takes place on 20 March 2027 and follows a section of Wainwright’s Coast to Coast route across the Lake District. The course starts at St Bees and finishes in Patterdale and combines coastal paths, mountain passes, steep climbs, rocky descents, and mountain terrain.

Way-marking is present on some sections but should not be solely relied upon for navigation. Weather and ground conditions can vary significantly. Organisers will provide a GPX file and final route details before the event.

Structured checkpoints are positioned along the route, including Ennerdale, Borrowdale, and the finish at Patterdale. Checkpoints will offer water, hot food with vegan and gluten free options, snacks and race nutrition, indoor access, toilet facilities, and first aid support. An overall cut-off of 18 hours applies; individual checkpoint cut-offs will be published in the final race pack. Participants who fall behind cut-off pace may be withdrawn for safety reasons.

A mandatory kit list applies and live tracking is used for all participants; trackers must be returned. Participants must be adequately trained, follow the route at all times, report withdrawals to race control and be capable of maintaining forward progress within the event cut-offs. The event is registered with the International Trail Running Association and finishers earn ITRA endurance points. Minimum entry age is 20 and the entry fee is £55. Entries open 27 April 2026 and close 1 March 2027. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
