Commodore 24 Hour Challenge
The Commodore 24 Hour Challenge is a USATF sanctioned event held at Gulf Coast State College on October 23, 2026. The event asks each participant to complete one mile every 30 minutes for a continuous 24 hour period. A two-person team option is available; teams share a single race bib and must follow the same mile rules as solo participants.
The one mile course begins at the college baseball field. Runners travel west, continue through the roundabout to the Military and Veterans Resource Center, stay to the right along the parking lot toward Student Union West, take the left turn and return down the main parking lot back to the baseball stadium.
Participants must be at least 16 years old. Runners are responsible for bringing sufficient food and hydration for 24 hours, though organizers plan to provide some snacks and food during the night. Tents are permitted on the baseball field for use as a base area.
Key challenge rules require starting and finishing each mile within the same 30 minute segment, with disqualification if an official mile finish is missed. Miles may not be banked across segments. All runners begin and end the event together; this includes both members of relay teams.
All registered runners receive a Commodore 24 Hour Challenge shirt and a finisher medal. Awards are presented in overall, masters, and relay categories, plus a set of superlative awards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
