About the race

Coffs Backyard Ultra is a donation-based Backyard Ultra held at the Exhibition Pavilion, Coffs Harbour Showground in Coffs Harbour, NSW. The event uses a repeating format: runners must complete a single loop called a "yard" of 6.706 km within each hour and repeat that yard every hour until only one runner remains. The course combines a wide showground loop and an out-and-back on the Coffs Creek Walkway, with about 75% shaded gravel path, 10% boardwalk and 15% bitumen, and roughly 20 m of ascent and 20 m of descent per yard.

Facilities at the event hub include a large undercover pavilion with kitchen access, charging stations, a quiet room, multiple toilet blocks and hot showers. Free camping is available at the showground for the event period; marquees may be set up inside or outside the pavilion following marshal guidance. Aid services on course include a main aid station by the corral offering water, sports drinks, snacks and hot options later in the day, two unmanned cupless water points with portable toilets, and a sweeper on a bike for safety. Results are published on the Backyard Ultra website and affiliated event lists. Mandatory gear rules require a front-facing race bib, a mobile phone during night hours, and a headtorch during night hours; a personal cup or flask is required because the event is cupless. Cash prizes are offered to the last male and last female standing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
