Climb It For Climate
Climb It For Climate takes place at Belleayre Resort in the Catskill Mountains near Arkville, New York. The event offers two trail distances and runs on mountain trails and ski slopes around Belleayre, which sits just under 3,500 ft.
Participants can choose from:
- 25K: about 15 miles with 5,000+ ft of climbing and descending on difficult terrain.
- 8K: about 5 miles with roughly 1,400 ft of gain and descent on Belleayre ski slopes.
Both distances are open to runners and hikers. The 25K course includes multiple on-course aid stations located at Rider Hollow Trailhead, McKenley Hollow Trailhead, and Sunset Lodge; some stations have time cutoffs while Sunset Lodge does not. The 8K has an aid point near Sunset Lodge. This is a cupless event, so participants are asked to bring a personal hydration pack; water and electrolyte mix are provided at start/finish areas and on course. Plant-based aid is supplied by Gnarly Nutrition.
The event collects donations for The Catskill Center through registration and a raffle, and The Running Kind is also collecting monetary donations. The event includes a $1 carbon offset fee in registration and partners with Change Climate Project for offsets. Additional community programs include the Trail Mix Fund for registration assistance and shoe donations accepted for Sneakers 4 Good.
Awards recognize top male, female, and non-binary finishers, and all finishers receive a race pin. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
