Clam Crawl
The Clam Crawl is a beach run held at Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable. The event returned for 2026 with a scheduled date of October 11, 2026, and was previously held as the Third Annual Clam Crawl on September 28, 2025. Organizers describe the earlier event as taking place in favorable weather with participants running, walking, and crawling on the sand.
The event offers two short courses across beach terrain:
- 3K course over sand
- 5K course over sand
Proceeds from the run support scholarship programs. MSOA has an award program for high school seniors who are pursuing a degree in marine biology and who reside in a coastal town or city that sponsors an MSOA representative; the run helps fund three scholarships for these students. For 2026, MSOA is partnering with Cape Cod Roller Derby to support that group's scholarship fund, which aims to help young people be active through roller skating.
