Chilterns Trail Marathon

The Chilterns Trail Marathon is a guided trail run covering 42.2 km (26.2 miles) through the Chiltern Hills. The route uses parts of the Ridgeway, local paths and trails, passes through nature reserves and Wendover Woods, and mixes technical single-track sections with more popular local routes. Wildlife on the route can include deer and red kites. The route profile includes rolling hills with about 500 m of ascent.

Participants are led by English Athletics qualified Run Leaders who handle navigation, offer technique tips and share information about the local area. Groups are organised by ability; participants should be able to run a half marathon on the flat in under 2.5 hours. Steeper sections are walked and trail shoes are mandatory.

Facilities at the event include toilets, bag drop and checkpoints. Refreshments are provided at up to three points along the route. The entry is limited to 40 participants. Included with entry are a Run Leader, a wooden Run the Wild finisher’s medal and a Trees not Tees certificate. Personal insurance, travel and parking are not included.

Access is via Tring Station, about a three minute walk from the Iron Room start location; paid parking is available at the station and there is limited free on-street parking. Spectator locations are provided to entrants in a pre-event briefing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
