The Chianti Ultra Trail by UTMB takes place in the heart of Tuscany, with the event village located in Radda in Chianti. The courses lead participants through the characteristic hills, vineyards, and historic castles of the Chianti region during the spring season.
As part of the UTMB World Series, the event offers several race distances:
- Ultra Trail Chianti Castles (UTCC): A 123 km course with 5200 m of elevation gain. This race is a Golden Ticket event for the Western States Endurance Run, with qualifying spots for the top two male and female finishers.
- Chianti Ultra Trail (CUT): A 73 km route with 3000 m of elevation gain.
- Chianti Marathon Trail (CMT): A 46 km distance with 1650 m of elevation gain.
- Chianti Half Trail (CHT): A 20 km race with 920 m of elevation gain.
- Chianti Wine Run (CWR): A 10 km course with 400 m of elevation gain.
Participants can earn Running Stones depending on the distance completed, ranging from one to four stones. These stones contribute toward qualification for the UTMB World Series Finals.
